The Grande Basset Griffon Vendeen
The Grande Basset Griffon Vendeen originated in France in the 1700s. Both basset forms are descended from the Grand Griffon Vendeen. This form of the Basset Griffon Vendeen differs from its smaller relative only in size. White is often the predominate color in bi and tricolor forms. It is an active dog and is valued for hunting rabbits and hares.
The Grande Basset Griffon Vendeen should be 15 to 16 and a half inches tall and weigh between 40-44 pounds. They can be very affectionate though it is very independent in nature.
Another name for the Grande Basset Griffon Vendeen is the Large Vendeen Griffon.
