The Puggle is a mixture of Beagle and Pug. Some refer to them as Puggles, while others refer to them as a "Bug", for Beagle and Pug.
Are they good dogs? Well, it depends on what you're looking for I suppose. I've seen some that were totally crazy/hyper, and some that were very mellow and sweet. The dog pictured on this page is the only well trained Puggle that I've personally met.
Do Puggles Shed? Yes, they do. I wouldn't say they shed as much as a Labrador Retriever, but they are a medium shedder. If you brush them at least once or twice a week, you really shouldn't have much of an issue with dog hair all over your house and clothes. I personally recommend a shedding blade, which is a tool that you simply run across the dogs coat and it removes the dead coat. I do recommend using the shedding blade outside so that you don't have all the dead coat on your carpet though.
Are Puggles Easy To Train? Considering the mix they are, I'd say they're more difficult than your average dog. You have to remember that Pugs can be a little wild- Pugs are small dogs but when they get excited there's no stopping them. Then you have to factor in the Beagle, which are known for their stubborness as well as their barking.
With an experienced dog owner, who knows how to properly train a dog, there shouldn't be too much of an issue with training. The average pet owner may have difficulites and require professional assistance in training.
Are Puggles Easy To Housebreak? A lot of that depends on the owner actually. If you're able to be there and watch the puppy and take him outside very often, you shouldn't have a problem. But if you have a very busy house and can't keep an eye on the puppy all the time, you may have problems.
Are Puggles Loud? They can be. Beagles are known for being very vocal, but Pugs aren't quite that bad, so most of it depends on how much of the Beagle is in your puppy.
Why are there no Puggle Breeders Listed on this Site? The Puggle is a mixed breed, and we only list purebred dogs. We don't hate mixed breeds at all, in fact the best dog that I ever had was a mixed breed that I found on the street, but we do not believe in the intentional breeding of mixed breeds. We also do not believe in the price gouging that many of the breeders of mixed breeds practice.
We will list rescues for mixed breeds, just not breeders of them. If the time comes when we find a breeder that tests for health issues prior to breeding, has titled parents on the dogs, and we believe they are actually trying to better this mix in some way, we may list them. However at this point with the "designer dog" craze that is happening, it's just not looking good at the moment.
