The West Siberian Laika originated in Russia in the 1800s. The breed is more firmly established than its East Siberian relative and is certainly more numerous.

The long legs and wolflike face of the West Siberian Laika give it an apparent lightness of bearing, which belies its power and immense endurance.

The West Siberian Laika should be 21-24 inches tall and weigh 40-50 pounds.
