Sam Elliott
|
"Sam Elliott" was born May 24, 1998. His father is CH Richlene's Beach Comber (Beacher) , who is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met- he adores everyone and everything. His mother is CH Richlene's Tango Dancer (Tango), who is now retired into a pet home. While she was at the kennel, she was always very sure of herself, and full of crazy antics.
Sammie is more like his father, Beacher. He's very mellow, and adores everyone. He'd rather sit on your lap and be admired rather than romp around with toys or the other dogs. He never gives me a bit of trouble while grooming- he doesn't mind being groomed as long as he's being touched. Sammie is one who refuses to be ignored. If he doesn't think that he's getting enough attention, he'll put his front paws on you and stare until you finally aknowledge him. Once you do, you're not allowed to stop. If you try to stop, he'll wait a few seconds to see if you realized you were wrong to stop, and if you don't begin petting him again, he'll paw at you until you start up again.
Sammie was named after the actor, Sam Elliott. When I first brought him home we couldn't figure out what to name him. My neice and nephew were here and wanted us to name him "buddy". That was impossible since "buddy" was what we called all of my Rottweiler mix's toys- we'd tell Homer to get his buddy, and he'd go grab a toy- we didn't want him grabbing the puppy! After we heard Sam bark for the first time, the name was set. Even as a pup, he had a rhaspy bark of an old dog, so the name stuck.
Sammy is still doing great though. After I adopted Oliver at the humane shelter, all the boys got sick- apparently Oliver had a cold and shared it with everyone here. Sam had the hardest time getting over it, but apparently the first round of antibiotics wasn't right for him- after the secound type, he was fine.
Every day when I'm on my way home from work I call home to talk to my mother. Sam has now associated the phone ringing at that time of day with me being home soon, so he stares at the door and barks every few seconds until I get here.
