Est. 1970I started Trube Kennel after seeing the fabulous Lhasa Apso Ch BarCon’s the Avenger “Rastus” with his handler Joan Kendall who became the first of my many mentors. I apologize to those I fail to mention.
Buying a “Rastus” daughter, CarBun’s Lady Be Mine, was our beginning. “Winner” although being a very lovely Lhasa, was a tiny lady and her show career was short lived, never obtaining her championship. Winner proved herself in the whelping box. My first champion was from her first litter. Ch. Trube’s Mr. Hard To Come By “Billy”.
During this time discovering I enjoyed being at dog shows and the comments overheard at ringside, coming from a non-dog show oriented family, I was a “natural” dog show handler. I turned my attentions towards being a handler in the wonderful sport.
This sport has given me the opportunity to meet some of the great dog show people we usually have to admire from a distance, and to see in person some great show dogs.
Through the years several other breeds became part of the Trube Kennel family, Lhasa Apsos, Chihuahua’s, Black and Tan Coonhounds and our newest addition Ibizan Hounds. The mentor’s in these breeds have offered me unlimited knowledge, constructive criticism, to remind me all of this is for the betterment of the breeds we love.
As time keeps going, I’ve been fortunate to have wonderful clients who have entrusted me with over 250 dogs to handle to championships, group placing, group winning and Best In Shows. Many thanks must also go the all the dog show judges I’ve shown to throughout the years, and the years to come.
Now nestled in the Northeast corner of Missouri, just a short distance from Hannibal. On 140 acres of farm country Susan and I will work towards our goals thru all our venues. We’ve concentrated now on Black and Tan Coonhounds and Ibizan Hounds as our primary breeds. I will still be handling, for a few select clients. Susan of course is always busy with her artistry, painting Precious Treasures from your photographs.
